What's the difference?
Both CMA workbooks perform Correlated Multiphasic Analysis from sets of DNA member matches.
- CMA Version 2 accepts DNA matches formatted in a 2-column layout. (i.e. Subject Name and Shared Linkage).
- CMA Version 3.1.5 accepts DNA matches formatted in a 3-column layout. (i.e. Subject Name, Kit # and Shared Linkage).
See for yourself:
Version 2 | Version 3.1.5 | |
Number of Test Subjects | 26 | 26** |
DNA Matches per Subject | 50,000 | 100.000 |
Data fields per Match | 2 (Subject Name and Shared Linkage) | 3 (Subject Name, Kit #, Shared Linkage) |

** New and Improved! **
Version 3.1.5:
• simpler data entry: enter a test subject's Kit #, and the Workbook will look up their name.
• can parse longer ACS classifications.
• can sort the ACS by cardinality.
• adds a scripted button to output results to PDF.
• summary includes a reference roster of test subjects.
• adds a button to clear user data and return the workbook to pristine condition.
Minimum systen requirements are a PC or Mac with 8GB RAM and a copy of Microsoft Excel which supports Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
Additional RAM may be required to support CMA with a full roster of 26 subjects and/or > 1 million DNA matches.
The Version 3.1.5 application uses around 4x as many calculations as Version 2, but the principal factor in deciding which to use will probably be whether your DNA match data is organized in 2 or 3 fields, and/or whether any or your Test Subjects have in excess of 50,000 matches.
Note: In order to maximize compatibility with older machines, we have disabled automatic recalculation on both of these files, so manual recalculation is recommended after each test subject's data has been entered. However recalculation commands are included within the scripted functions of the files, so tabulated and sorted data should reflect any prior adjustments to the data set.
